SHEDDING

I am an adder snake

shedding the constraints of silk sheets of brown and gold

braided into one another like twisted roots

abandoning the old beliefs that shook me

racing across my skin like a wild fire's reflection

no longer halted by the height of its flames

as my skin is darker than night

stars glinting beneath my feet

beaming through me

transcending into an orbit of a glow

pulsating above my head

drowning old lingering thoughts
